Matrix42 acquires endpoint security specialist EgoSecure
Matrix42 acquires 100% of EgoSecure, including 60% of Infowatch Labs, a company owned by Natalya Kaspersky.
Matrix42 acquires EgoSecure, a leading provider of endpoint security software.
Matrix42 acquires a majority stake in InfoWatch, a group of companies providing integrated solutions for information security. EgoSecure, headquartered in Ettlingen near Karlsruhe, Germany, has specialized in endpoint and data protection for more than ten years. EgoSecure is an established software provider in the German-speaking and European market with over 2,000 customers and has been a technology partner of Matrix42 for several years. Matrix42 already entered the endpoint security market last year through a technology alliance with the security start-up enSilo. The products for data encryption, interface and application control and security monitoring now complete the Matrix42 Endpoint Security Suite.
According to Gartner(1), the market for endpoint security will grow by more than 45% to US$1.5 billion worldwide by 2020. In particular, the enormous increase in malware attacks with corresponding economic damage is driving the demand for security software. In order to offer customers even more comprehensive security for their end devices, Matrix42 is expanding its existing endpoint security portfolio to include EgoSecure software products.
The digital workplace is on the rise, which is why IT Service Management and Endpoint Security are converging. However, employee productivity and endpoint security must not conflict with each other. With the expanded solution portfolio, Matrix42 will offer an integrated security solution that enables 360° security management for PCs, laptops, smartphones, tablets and IoT devices. The advantage for customers is a higher degree of automation in IT, which will help to better manage the number of attacks and the risk of data theft. Customers benefit from the merger of IT service management, software asset management, unified endpoint management and endpoint security - made in Germany.
"A company can be affected daily by a cyber security attack or data theft. Our customers expect simple and secure solutions here. For this reason we integrate EgoSecure into our existing product portfolio. The result is one of the leading European software manufacturers for integrated management and security solutions with German roots," says Oliver Bendig, CEO of Matrix42.
"As a provider of endpoint security software, we have written a real success story and have achieved double-digit growth every year since 2012. We are now pleased to be part of Matrix42. By merging with Matrix42, we want to build on this success story even more", says Sergej Schlotthauer, CEO of EgoSecure.
"We want to focus on the content security sector and expand into markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia", says Natalya Kaspersky, President Infowatch Group. "Since the acquisition of EgoSecure in 2011, we have succeeded in achieving consistently high growth rates at EgoSecure. As a result, EgoSecure has become one of the leading companies in the market. We are proud of this joint success story and are very satisfied with the result that the sale brings for us", Natalya Kaspersky explains the sale of the majority shareholding.
EgoSecure founder Sergej Schlotthauer and the entire EgoSecure team with almost 70 employees will become the Center of Excellence for Security at Matrix42. Sergej Schlotthauer assumes the position of VP Security at Matrix42. In this position, he is responsible for the further expansion of the Matrix42 Security division.
