Virtual worlds under control
Matrix42 launches new version of Empirum Workplace Automation
28 Oct 2010Atlanta, Neu-Isenburg, October 28, 2010 – Matrix42, today the German market leader for Workplace Management, introduces version 14 of its award-winning workplace automation solution Empirum. Thanks to the integrated support of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) in Empirum Workplace Automation v14, virtual and physical clients can be easily managed and automated from one single console. The Workplace Automation solution is optimized for Citrix XenDesktop and enables end users to access their workstations and work efficiently from anywhere, at any time, be it physically, virtually or in the cloud. Empirum Workplace Automation v14 makes the migration, update and development of virtual desktops easy, automated and cost-efficient.
The central IT management system, Matrix42 Empirum Workplace Automation v14, handles all tasks that arise in the context of VDI. Especially VDI characteristics such as physical to virtual migration (p2v) or the automated management of Citrix XenDesktop and Citrix XenApp infrastructures are mapped in an easy, safe and reliable manner with the new version. Updating and providing VDI master images (VHD) usually takes several hours when using the manufacturer’s standard tools and in a XenApp server farm, the provisioning can even take several days. Integrated in Empirum Workplace Autiomation v14 is an automated change and revision management of VHDs and XenApp servers which minimizes risks and reduces the time spent on changing the infrastructure by 60%.
Empirum Workplace Automation v14 takes VDI to the next level
Empirum Workplace Automation v14 integrates the provisioning and running of virtual environments into the processes that are already in existence in the physical world. Users can order software solutions and complete virtual work environments via an intuitive online portal. The new release of the solution thus ensures the latest technology is always integrated into business processes in a purposeful and cost-efficient manner. Without the business-focused management provided by Matrix42 Empirum Workplace Automation v14, many benefits of VDI would fall by the wayside in daily operations. For example, if VDI is operated in isolation from the physical IT landscape as a silo, numerous savings opportunities are wasted.
New Packaging Center and Driver Community account for user demands Matrix42 Empirum Workplace Automation v14 offers IT professionals the extensive integration of all packaging technologies. This is made possible by the creation and modification of software packages via the Empirum Packaging Center. If an existing MSI package needs to be modified, an application needs to be provided via Citrix XenApp or if a certain action needs to be automated with Package Robot, all is managed centrally. The new “Driver Community” allows users to share driver packages with other Empirum customers and allows them to copy other customer’s packages into their own driver database by the click of a mouse. Thus, less time is wasted on finding the right drivers and operating systems are installed quicker.
Empirum Workplace Automation v14 supports the management of new platforms such as the latest versions of Citrix XenServer, VMware vSphere, Novell SuSE Linux Server, Desktop-OS and Red Hat Linux Enterprise. Moreover, it now allows full access to Intel capable computers via Intel AMT features. This means IT administrators can now control PCs and servers remotely, change BIOS settings and solve system problems effectively before starting the operating system.
