The ITAM Review Publishes International Ranking of License Management Software

Matrix42 License Manager Takes Leading Position

31 Mar 2011

Atlanta, GA, March 31, 2011 – A study recently published by ITAM Review analyzed and evaluated 17 leading SAM tools. In this Who’s Who in License Management, the Matrix42 License Manager scores on all levels: 1st place in the “Mid Market” and 2nd place in the “Enterprise” category. The software vendor is ahead of the competition, which includes such names as FrontRange Solutions, Snow Software and Aspera.

In his study, Martin Thompson deals with the question of how license management has changed over time and which present and future requirements it will have to fulfill.

To identify groundbreaking trends Thompson has taken a careful look at 17 of the most widely used license management applications and has evaluated them based on uniform criteria. He identified the products’ strengths and weaknesses and compared their functionality and their solution con-cepts.

Evaluation criteria are open and free to download and a 'Preview' of results is provided - full details are only available to subscribers: the ITAM Review - Market Synopsis: SAM Tools.

Tomorrow’s trend: proactive license management
“The product is very compelling and should be of interest to any company which seeks to successfully implement software asset management," says Thompson of the Matrix42 License Manager solution. In his view, its capabilities for automation and intelligent mapping of complex license models are especially convincing. But the German software vendor also scores highly with regards to the easy-to-use and intuitive console. Thompson pays special attention to the integrated web shop in his analysis, as it turns the Matrix42 License Manager into a proactive license management tool. An easy to use, comprehensible portal allows end users to order the software they need themselves. The approval and provisioning process is also automated and can be controlled and managed throughout. This transparent process support, which is fully integrated into the license management, is unique among the leading software solutions and is a key reason for the leading position of Matrix42.

"Matrix42 merged with Update4U in 2009 bringing together systems management and service management. The result is a compelling offer for organizations looking to implement enterprise SAM”, says Thompson. “Matrix42 have a strong SAM offering with automation and smart licensing logic in an easy to use console. Of particular interest is the web shop which delivers a semi-automatic soft-ware request and approval platform for software and services.”

Torsten Boch, License Management Specialist and Product Manager at Matrix42, agrees: “When you look at traditional license management tools you will see that their efficiency equals that of a referee without a whistle. In contrast, our solution enables companies to manage all licenses and their use proactively.”

Martin Thompson: License Manager is leading solution for license management
Because of its innovative strength and the high level of automation, Thomspson even considers the Matrix42 License Manager to be the leading solution and a trend-setting strategy. The close integration of the software into other IT processes, the license information that is always up to date, the innovative concept and the underlying logic are the reasons for why experts predict a great future for the Matrix42 License Manager.
