The power of v12: New Matrix42 Empirum version now available

The new software features a tried-and-tested Windows 7 migration

31 Aug 2009

Neu-Isenburg today, August 31, 2009, Matrix42 AG will launch the latest version of its market-leading systems management software Matrix42 Empirum. Combined with a strong, highly flexible software packaging feature and enhanced usability for administrators, Version 12 provides broad support for the new Windows operating systems Windows 7 and Windows 2008. As in the past, customers, partners and prospects have contributed their requirements and feedback to be integrated in Matrix42’s new product. Today, long before the Microsoft release of Windows 7 scheduled in October, Matrix42 Empirum v12 will be launched to provide migration support for both Windows XP and Vista. Selected customers were invited to test Empirum v12 beta with support for Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and x64 Windows. Migrations to Windows 7 RC1 have been performed successfully, demonstrating Matrix42’s know-how and expertise with large-scale migrations.

Empirum v12 provides enhanced integration of extensive and widely used virtualization technologies. The Matrix42 Empirum Inventory is now able to identify virtualized systems and to assign these systems to the respective host systems. Applications virtualized with VMWare ThinApp are detected, identified and correctly assigned in the license management tool.

Already in May 2009 during one of this year’s Matrix42 User Groups, 250 customers and prospects who attended had the opportunity to experience the Package Robot, an additional software packaging alternative and a tool to be used for reoccurring tasks. The Package Robot is comprised of more than 800 commands in a very simple script language; therefore, users do not have to learn these commands by heart and can use the drag-and-drop functionality to place them into a graphical editor.

The broad spectrum of options includes the packaging of software by vendors who do not provide third-party packaging support, automated e-mail collection from various web services and the automated print-out of a multitude of documents at any defined time. The Package Robot is a highly flexible tool that complements existing technologies such as MSI.

The Matrix42 Empirum v12 team has not only developed new functionality but has also had a close look at administrative works and has enhanced the performance during everyday operations. As a result, an optimized user interface has been designed to provide easier access to common key actions. The new version allows users to perform even more administrative routine tasks via the web-based console. The Package Wizard, a tool that helps administrators to create software packages, has also been revised to provide more usability than ever before.

Combined with the features of Matrix42’s “Service Store 5.2” service management tool, the 12th version of Matrix42 Empirum has now reached a point where fully automated IT systems management becomes a reality allowing you to solve rather than administer.
